Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake
Series: Studies in The Sermon on The Mount
- August 29, 2010
Morning worship - Robert Robb
- Matthew 5: 10-11
Summary
In this final beatitude we consider the lot of the christian, that is a life of persecution for both righteousness and Christ's sake. Church history bears testimony from the 1st century right up to the most violent persecution against Christ's church which many will be surprised to find out was the 20th century. In an ever increasing antagonism against Christianity in the western world we are instructed by Christ to expect persecution and to have our eyes fixed upon heaven. AW Pink reminds us in his book "Comfort for Christians": "One breath of Paradise will extinguish all the adverse winds of earth".
